Don’t roses just make you feel good. My mother always claimed she hated getting flowers for special occasions especially roses. Her justification was that the life of the flowers didn’t justify the cost spent. She was happier with daisies or carnations. I have always loved getting flowers especially roses and I’ve found a way to make them last a lifetime!!
When my husband first gave me red roses - we were only dating then - I was so excited I never wanted to throw them in the trash. Not just because I tend to be a hoarder, but the sentiment was so touching. So they stayed in the vase until they turned a deep, almost blackish red and dried up completely. I decided I had to keep them but didn’t know what to do with them. Then - an idea!! I took off all the petals and gingerly put them into a glass bowl - like a fish bowl - I got for a couple bucks at a dollar store. Then I added some rose oil scent that I’d gotten at a fair years before. It smelled so good and was like making your own potpourri. I still have this bowl sitting on my shelf after almost 13 years.
