Happy Presidents Day! This holiday was actually created to specifically honor first president, George Washington on his birthday. The holiday was celebrated on Washinton’s actual birthday — February 22— until 1971, when it was changed to the third Monday of February. Since then, there has been a push to include other presidents in the honor, including Abraham Lincoln, who’s birthday falls on February 12. That’s why Amy’s Pick of the day specifically says, “Washinton’s Birthday” — when this vintage card of the man who “could not tell a lie” was made, the holiday still fell on February 22. And that’s your free history in art lesson from today’s image giveaway!
