Good Morning Everyone!
We want to announce not only a great deal for fabric lovers out there, but another summer giveaway. The founder of The Vintage Workshop, Amy Barickman, has been a long-time designer of vintage inspired fabric for Red Rooster Fabrics. Over the years our office has become stock piled with all of this beautiful fabric and now we are cleaning house.
First, we would like to offer two lucky blog readers a free set of some of our Vintage Workshop fabrics. Each set includes a one yard piece of each of the 25 coordinating fabrics from a specific collection. The collections we are spotlighting today are - Tres Chic, a bright colored fashion imagery inspired line; and Mary Frances and Thimble Friends, a more rustic colored line inspired by vintage children’s books with a sewing themed. Each of these bundles comes with 25 yards of quality cotton quilting fabrics ready to use.
How do you win? Post a comment to this blog post only with what you would do with the fabric. You have until midnight on Monday, August 31st. Please note that we must manually approve your comments so only post once. After it has been read by a staff member, we will approve your comment for all to see. Multiple posting may disqualify you from the contest.
Don’t worry if you are not picker as a winner because we have lots of bundles of this fabric available for sale on eBay. All of the bundles are listed with different coordinates (be sure to check out each listing to find the coordinates you want). Each listing will be different depending on what fabrics were available. Our eBay seller name is thevintageworkshop913 and indygojunction. Indygo Junction is also selling off some of our old discontinued patterns on eBay. If you do an advanced search you can search by seller name or click the links below.

Until next time…

Wow! There are a lot of fabric lovin ladies out there. I would use the fabric to make softies for holiday gift giving. Wonderful opportunity. Love your stuff!
Big hug,
Deborah
Great contest! I would love to win any fabric right now… our guild wants to donate 1,000 pillowcases for a local hospital. Guess what? So pillowcases would be what I would make from the fabric if I win!
Good luck everyone and Happy Quilting!
Lisa N
I am a quilter girl and have been for many years. My favorite bundle is Mary Frances and Thimble Friends and with that wonderful packet of fabric (I can feel the creamy softness now of those luscious fabrics) I would make the most interesting huge quilt embellished with wool and many wonderful things that I would put in my vintage sewing theme inspired spare bedroom. With the left overs, I would make another quilt to give to our local Red Cross to gift to a family in need that has lost their home due to a fire or other devastation. Thanks for the opportunity to participate.
Both collections are so colorful! I would make yo-yo’s with them; then decorate or make all sorts of things with the yo-yo’s. Thanks!
I’d love these fabrics to make a baby quilt for my niece’s new little boy~ I made a quilt for her when she was 1yo, so I’d love to keep the tradition going
Thanks!
Lovely! I’d do a few things. For one, we are reaching the end of our paper gift wrap and have vowed not to buy any more. With the holidays coming, I’d make a whole bunch of simple bags with cloth ribbon ties that can be used over and over again. Then, my son is six and is fascinated with the sewing machine, so I’d let him plan a project or two. He’s made a bag before and wants to try to make shirt for his favorite stuffed dog. : ) I’d also love to try a quilt, but I just don’t have enough scraps yet. Thanks for the chance!
Hello! I am a professional fashion designer/fibre artist. I have a home based business so I can stay close to my family, and I am a single mom. I create accessories using new and recycled fabrics, notions, and found objects. I would use the fabrics for purse linings, etc. in weavings, combined with handspun fibre, and in combination with many other materials. Thanks for the opportunity, and please check out my blog http://www.klozhaus.blogspot.com to see some of my creations! Have a great day!!
What would I do with this fabric? Hmmmm….for sure I’d use some in my paper crafting, where so many cool things are being done with fabric. And I have gobs of purse/handbag/tote patterns, so some fabric would be allocated there. What a cool thing for you to do - thanks for the chance!
I have been sewing for years. I love the patterns from IndigoJunction. I have used the childrens patterns for my 4yr. old granddaughter. I would use this fabric to make her some more outfits, and quilts for her and her 2 brothers, one who is 4 (twins) and a 2 yr. old.
After lovingly handling the fabric and marveling over the designs, I’d split each yard in half to share ith my stepmom who is just starting to make quilts. I will use my pieces for the bitsy stuff I do - the charm quilt I am making, altered books Artist Trading Cards and Artist Post cards, sharing with families on my Chinese adoption board as we make 100 wishes quilts for our adopted children, sharing with Chinese friends making 100 wishes quilts for their children. The tradition of the “Bai Jia Bei” or “100 Good Wishes Quilt” is to welcome and celebrate a new life, originates from some Northern parts of China. When a baby was born, family and friends would donate to the child’s mother fabric scraps from old clothing with a wish for the baby. She would make a quilt for the child from the scraps. It is said that the luck, energy and good wishes from all of the families and friends who contributed the fabric surrounds the child when she is wrapped in the quilt. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
These prints are adorable! I think since I am redoing my sewing/craft room, that I would probably use these for decorating there. they would be perfect! thanks for the chance!
I would share the bounty with my local quilt group members. We make quilts to benefit our local senior center.
Always inspiring to see the items on your web site. The patterns are terrific.
Thanks for the chance to enter.
Susan
ooohh….GIFTS for friends and family! bags, clothes and toys for my 2 wee ones….and maybe try my hand at a small quilt
I LOVE the Mary Francis & Thimble friends fabric. We are getting ready to move into our new home which is not out in the country like we would prefer but we hope to get that country feel with our decor! I have been toying with a few ideas for decorating and want to make a an organizer display in the kitchen with 3 black frames in a row. The first frame will hold a board painted with white board paint, with a vinyl calendar adhered to it. The middle will be a cork board, covered with fabric (it just so happens the top fabric pictured will be perfect for my black, red & white kitchen). The third will be a board covered in chalkboard paint! I will also need coordinating fabric for the kitchen window, island stools, and as “mat” for various pictures (including the children’s silhouettes collection I purchased from Vintage Workshop a while ago) which will hang in the great room and dining areas. This fabric is lovely! The ideas are endless and keep coming as I continue to look at the pictures on eBay.
These are GREAT! I love how fun they are, I would make great quilted prayer shawls for loved ones who are going through cancer treatments and other hardships. How can you look at these bright cheerful colors, and not feel better? Just wrap one around your shoulders, feel the softness of the fabric, the warmth of the quilting, and then the joyful colors make a smile come to your face. I know it would make me feel better and I know there are a lot of people who could use a reason to smile(:
I’ve been wanting to make a large kaleidoscope quilt for a while now - this would be perfect! Thanks!
The fabrics are beautiful. I would give them to our “Do-Days” ladies at our little country church, Looney Valley Lutheran. The ladies meet each month to make quilts for such things as Lutheran World Relief, quilts to local bible camps for their fundraisers and pillows for the handicapped, quilts are given to families in need after floods or fires, crib quilts are given to each baby baptized, etc. The ladies are always looking for donations of new and used materials, and this material would be put to good use.
Thank you for considering them.
What a great opportunity to get some lovely fabric. I’d use mine in fabric books I like to make using old family photos. I’d like all my cousins to have a family book.
I absolutely love your blog. I receive your newsletter and even though I have not had any extra money to spend lately I anxiously anticipate your emails and read through each one. I have items that I ordered a couple of years ago and I cherish them. I work with a group of doll makers and we craft for a cause. We make dolls, etc. to sell to raise money for the March of Dimes. If I won the fabric, I would get some help to make a baby quilt or two to sell for the November auctions to raise money for the March of Dimes. I LOVE love the fabrics and thanks so much for all of the inspiration and ideas you give to us all - even those on a very tight budget like me.
I love that fabric–both collections! If I won I would make a quilt, maybe mixing it with some thirties repros, and featuring the larger prints. With leftovers I would make a tabletopper or maybe a baby quilt to give to the next new baby in my large family. Scraps would go into my bins for paper piecing. I don’t waste anything!
i would love the fabric!…i think i would use some of for gift tags that i make by hand….and perhaps some of it to make doll clothes for dolls i have designed! it is fabulous!
My mother finally has her own sewing room at the age of 72. She’s a master seamstress with a 1964 Singer. My dad bought her a new embroidery machine with a computer, so she’s taking classes and learning a whole new world. She’s also Women’s Club President, church lector and all the other volunteering she’s continuing. Of course, no daughter of a dynamo can stay out of this whirl of activity. She casually sends me the pattern for a doll for Operation Smile and tells me to sew up about 25 to 50, and then send them to her, and they’ll stuff them!
I was looking at your patterns and was inspired to cover the futon in her room with a sewing-themed quilt, and maybe add some framed pieces of my mother and the girls around her sewing machine. Now she has granddaughters to teach, so having her own room is great.
I love your designs. I have a wish list on hold for ordering after the doll project is finished–Oh,Mother!
P.S. I vote for Miss Kim Creates and UR special for foster girl dresses to get a bundle of fabric. Tricia
Thanks for offering a great contest! First I would fondle and play with the fabric
Then to get serious it would depend which I was lucky enough to win: the Tres Chic would be perfect to make a fun quilt for my soon-to-be 15 yr old granddaughter since she is very much a “fashionista”. The Mary Frances & Thimble Friends would be used to make a fussy cut star quilt that would be given to a good sewing friend who has moved away and is sorely missed.
I have a class of students (Ages 28 and up) that are just learning to sew and they would love to be able to use some of these in their upcoming projects! Hope we win!!!
I am a High School Apparel I and Apparel II Entrepreneurship teacher. I would love to
win the fabric so my students would have beautiful fabrics to choose from for their projects.
We live 35 miles from the nearest city (of any size) to purchase fabrics…sometimes we get a little desperate!! ;^D Also, an area that has been hit very HARD with job losses and mill closings (textile). Thank you!
Love your website and ideas!
Oh, my what lovely fabric. I would use it for paper crafts and quilting….both my love. Thank you for the great blog and the opportunity to win!
If I should win the fabric give away I would make quilts for my family and friends thank so much
love it, smell it, feel it,,,,, believe in it’s infinite possibilities…… and share it!
I would love to win either bundle, but if it were the Mary Frances one, I would make a quilt for my sister, since her name is Mary Frances. Our quild is also making pillowcases for a childrens hospital and I also sew for an organization who gives dresses 3 times a year to lower income children.
Ahhhh, fabric!
I would make Christmas & B-day gifts for family & friends!
I would love this stash of cute fabric for a baby quilt..you never know when I might become a grandma!!
I would love to finish the unfinished quilting projects that my grandmother left to me.
The fabrics have the same style of the fabric she used in her hand appliqued quilts. By doing this, the quilts will keep on giving enjoyment through generations of a quilting family. I always will treasure the quilting lessons my grandmother taught me.
I would probably use the fabric to add special touches to purses (for gifts), or to clothing for my daughters. We are definately a family of fabric lovers!
Please, Please, Please, let me win the fabric. I promise I will take care of the fabric, making it into wonderful projects to share with one and all.
Oooohh, fun! I would make dresses and skirts for my daughter, pillow cases, maybe some would go into a quilt. Some, of course, would go into the stash for a rainy day. Or a rainy winter, like we have here in the northwest.
i would love to recieve this bundle of fabric. i adore all the patterns and colors.. they would be wonderful for my creating of little gifts that i make for family and friends..
i would cover chipboard and make the fabric covers and embellish with photos , charms.. and i also think that these materials would make adorable yoyos.. i love them and they would be great christmas package toppers..
thanks so much for sharing with us all..i so look forward to your pages every day..
Oh, what a blessing in disguise! I see so many Christmas presents, pillowcases, needlecases, ornies, picture frames, and on and on!!. I adore the Mary Frances line which is more my favorite colors, but they all are beautiful! Just to fondle it would be fun. Thanks for the giveaway.
25 YARDS! That’s a lotof fabrc. I would have to share it with my ’stitch-n- bitch’ girls. They love to do projects from bags, home dec projects, quilts and OMG someone is always having a baby so we can’tforget those baby items.
I believe even boys should learn to sew. Even my 2 teenage boys can sew on buttons. Creating and sewing are genderless! My youngest son who is 5, has taken a keen interest in all things crafty. I would use the darling fabrics to spend time teaching him more fun things to make. Creating memories as well as projects!!
I love your site and glad to have this blog to share my feeling with others who have the same interest. What wonderful fabrics. But, it’s only what one would expect from the Vintage Workshop. They have that beautiful vintage feel just like your other great items. When I miss being a little girl, I visit your site to bring back all those awsome memories. I’ve used aot of the products on the site and have always enjoyed the results. Thank you.
I love the fabric. Naturally I would make a quilt. I love to quilt, I love fabric, I’m addicted.
I would pick a few choice pieces to use to make a Christmas gift craft I have planned, and I would give the rest to my sister. She is a wonderfully talented quilter and would design something unique and beautiful with it.
I teach a lot of children how to sew by making quilted hotpads or small quilts. This would be a wonderful opportunity to share more of this knowledge with them. I feel that it is important for children, both boys and girls, to learn how to sew and what is was like to have to make your own clothes and other items. And how nothing was ever wasted.
#783 no chance to win but I would use it for making quilts for Christmas gifts.

Wow! What a fantastic give away. If I win I will make aprons and bags with these fabulous fabrics. I would also share with my charitable quilting group.
Thank you for the chance!
What a beautiful assortment. Whether you win the free bundle or buy your still a winner!!
Wow, what a fantastic contest this is going to be! If I were to win the fabric, I would be doing the Happy Dance and singing Hot Dang, Hot Dang!!! I recently received a new sewing machine as a gift and donated my used sewing machine to a local battered woman’s shelter. I would share the fabric with the woman’s shelter and volunteer my time to them to show whomever wanted to learn to sew, the sewing basics. Maybe some woman would enjoy sewing and know that in these hard times, they could make their own clothing or clothing for their children (or home decor) at more reasonable prices. Yes, it would be very to win the fabric.
I think these fabrics would be perfect for pillowcases given away under the ConKerr Cancer program (www.ConKerCancer.org). The 4-Hers in my club and the students in my daughter’s FCS class are sewing pillowcases from fabrics they donate. These cheerful pillowcases are given to children who are sick with cancer or other serious illnesses. By careful cutting, two yards of coordinating fabric can create 2 pillowcases. These cheerful fabrics could brighten life in a hospital bed for sick little children.
I would use the fabrics to finish my five year old granddaughter’s twin size quilt. She has had a sister and brother born in the last three years and I have been busy making baby quilts for them. I would like to make her quilt very special since she has waited patiently all this time.
The fabrics are wonderful! I’m on my way to ebay to check out the auctions!
