Mica Snow - Now Available!

Posted by Cheryl

Now available directly from The Vintage Workshop comes Mica Snow.  This wonderful embellishing product is a wonderful vintage inspired flaky “snow” that looks like a cross between artificial snow and glitter. It is a white shimmery flake that can be glued to almost any surface including paper for cards, candles, pine cones or you can just sprinkle it on a tray to give a little sparkle. A little history from the makers of Mica Snow. Mica is a mineral that comes in a variety of colors and can be easily separated into thin transparent sheets. We’ve processed our high quality white mica into small flakes much like the ‘Vintage Mica Snow’ of the early 1900s. In addition to being beautiful, it’s non-toxic, tough, chemically inert, transparent and waterproof. It can also withstand temperatures of over 1100 degrees!

If you are familiar with Mica Snow and have used it in the past, we welcome you to post your projects photos here as well. It’s a fun way to bring the snowy winter wonderland right into your home.

The photo of the Vintage Mica Snow nor the description provide any indication as to how much you get. Could you post a picture that provides some sort of indication? I remember this from my childhood and would like to get some but I want some idea of how much to order. Thanks.

Do you have anymore information on the pinecone box project?

THIS IS GREAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS STUFF FOR YEARS, I LOVE TO EMBELLISH MY CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS WITH IT.

I MADE A MAGNOLIA WREATH THIS YEAR AND THIS WOULD HAVE ADDED THE FINAL TOUCH TO SOME OF THE LEAVES.

What size bottle is the Mica Snow?
I realize it doesn’t weigh much so the actual measurement of the bottle would be helpful.

Hey Jan, The jar contains 6 oz of Mica Snow and it’s about 6 inches tall and about 3.5 inches across. I hope that gives you and everyone else a sense of how much you get. It’s quite a bit and it’s so fine and light - it’s like a large flake white iridescent glitter! It was so popular after our initial post and email that we sold out the first day. I’m waiting to get more back in this week!! Thanks, Cheryl

It’s quite easy to decorate a pinecone with Mica Snow. Just dab glue on the edges with a paintbrush - regular white glue works just fine - and then roll in the Mica. Then glue on (using a hot glue gun perhaps) any decorate embellishing greenery you like to the top. Quick and easy. I have to admit…the pictures don’t do this product justice. It’s so beautiful and sparkly in person! You have to try this out yourself.
    Thanks,
    Cheryl
