Thursday, June 10th, 2010Quilt Market in Minneapolis!
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010I am finally recovered from Quilt Market and am now nursing a sprained ankle which will give me time to sit down, edit photos, write and post…which I have been dying to do but have found little time since Market to focus energy on. Emma’s Birthday Party-A Spa Party for 12 of her friends was Tuesday afternoon. The party was manicures, pedicures, and crafting flip flops with fabric embellishments -no shortage of fabric in the house! So back to Quilt Market. The show is a trade only event where we meet with quilt and fabric shop owners, the press, and other industry publishers and manufacturers. The pictures above are from our from our booth and several feature my upcoming fabric line from Red Rooster. It was a great show- seeing the enthusiasm for sewing and new stores opening was so inspiring!! We introduced 18 new patterns at the show. Here is a link for a closer look.
Happy Mother’s Day
Sunday, May 9th, 2010To all of the women out there who have ever:
read a book, tied a shoe, mended a boo-boo, wiped a nose, dried our tears, gave us a hug, taught us a lesson, passed on a tradition, allowed a mistake, picked up the pieces, stood on the sidelines, pushed us ahead, and generally been there for us - be it grandmother, aunt, mother, sister, mentor, co-worker, pastor, cousin, or simply a friend…
We say happy Mother’s Day to you all!! We couldn’t do it without you. Thanks Mom!!
Creative Connection Event
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010
Have you heard about this wonderful event coming to Minneapolis? Creative Connection.
Former Editor of Country Living, Nancy Soriano and current Editor of Where Women Create, Jo Packman are hosting a conference to bring together women who are passionate about being creative in their lives as artists, business owners, bloggers, and more! Come learn, network, market, and create!
They will offer entrepreneurial panels, a vibrant HandMade Market where you can shop for great items (and sell your own), and event meals where women entrepreneurs in the tech, craft, and artisan communities will talk freely about what they love most.
There are SO many great teachers, artists, speakers and panelists that many of you know and many of you need to know (some of them featured in the image)… and I am pleased to announce that I will be a panelist for the How to Launch a Business panel.
As a bonus, your Weekender Pass for The Creative Connection includes free admission to the Junk Bonanza. Shop more than 100 juried national and regional vendors of antiques and vintage wares September 16–18, 2010, at Canterbury Park just 20 miles outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visit www.junkbonanza.com for more information on this great shopping experience.

Fun Easter Traditions
Sunday, March 28th, 2010Easter for me seems to always center around traditions. Those things we do every year whether we remember why we started doing them or not. Everyone put on their “Sunday best” with tends to include little suits & ties, white gloves, hats or bonnets and little purses. And don’t forget the great food at brunch (warm cinnamon rolls or breakfast casseroles) or dinner (think Honey baked ham). The foods were delicious and the conversation was a part that always made the day fun and exciting.
One way we continue traditions of my childhood today is through the “Lamb Cake”. It was something my parents always had at Easter and its something fun my mother shared with my son last Easter. The cake was always more fun to look at that to eat, but it’s the fact that we continue the tradition that makes it special to me.
I also wanted to share with you some of our staffers in their Sunday finery. Aren’t they cute!!
So this Easter carry on your family traditions or simply make up new ones to share. The key is to share them with those you love. People will remember and cherish the memories that you took the time to set the table, bake a cake, invited them over for food and conversation and generally made them feel special for that one day. Don’t forget the chocolate and colored eggs!
What is your favorite Easter tradition or memory? Post a comment and share it with us. Maybe we can use your idea to start a new tradition!!
Until next time…
Inspiration from Sew Expo!
Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010I wanted to share some photos from my trip to the Sew Expo In Puyallup, Washington. I was hosted by the Pacific Fabrics and Crafts booth, which has six locations as well as an online store. I presented two sell-out lectures Sew Vintage and Craft a Business:Sewing for Profit. Cheryl joined me to help out, and we had a great time working the booth with the Pacific Fabrics team!! I found some vintage treasures at the show I want to share with you. I also met some new friends whose businesses I want to share as well. Carol Saber of Japanese Textiles & Tours shares her jacket featuring vintage kimono fabric. Dyan Emery of Jennifer Osner Textiles share wonderful treasures including the gorgeous fuchsia and black crazy quilt I bought! Love the idea to take the vintage photo frame and use blackboard paint to turn in into a sign!!
